You choose your per-student monthly price inside the platform band of $99–$149 — the range families can sustain, at a fraction of ~$800/mo private tutoring. Highlighter's share is a flat 20% of the gross payment, calculated before card-processing fees.
Card processing (Stripe, ~2.9% + 30¢ — about $4.04 at this price) comes off the charge before payout, so about $99.16 per student lands in your account. Families pay exactly the price above — no extra platform fee is added on their side. Full breakdown →

Two things before you can publish: connect your payout account and pay the one-time $49 setup fee. Highlighter takes 20% of each gross student payment, calculated before card-processing fees — you keep the other 80%.

What you complete decides what you can offer. This is the same ladder described in Trust & Safety.
Verify a government-issued ID before you can publish any course. No exceptions, no publishing first.
Want to offer 1:1 check-ins with students under 18? A full background check comes first, renewed on a regular cycle.
Publishing courses without live 1:1 sessions? ID verification is enough. You can add the background check later.

Upload your first batch of material and the engine will draft your first adaptive course — which you review and approve before any student sees it.
